Soul Snack: Surviving a System Overload

Soul Snack: Surviving a System Overload

You know the feeling. Your internal battery is at 1%. You have forty-seven mental tabs open, and your brain’s cooling fans sound like a jet engine preparing for takeoff. You are one minor inconvenience away from a total system failure.

Nobody understands a hardware crash quite like Robo-san.

Built for hospitality but running entirely on pure, unadulterated anxiety, Robo-san is constantly glitching. He calculates worst-case scenarios in real-time and frequently tries to carry fourteen pizza boxes at once just so nobody has to wait. He takes on the weight of the entire room until his circuits overheat and he freezes up completely.

We do the exact same thing. When life gets overwhelming, our default programming is often to just try and carry more. We refuse to power down, we refuse to ask for help, and we try to single-handedly manage the chaos until we completely short-circuit. But we weren't designed to carry that much weight on our own.

It brings to mind a great reminder about what to do with our system overloads:

"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." — 1 Peter 5:7

You cannot troubleshoot a bad day by forcing your system into overdrive. If you are carrying fourteen boxes today and feeling the glitches start, it is time to put the heavy load down. Step away, grab a hot slice of pizza, and hand your worries over to the One who actually designed your operating system.

Stay grounded.
